You're officially at the halfway mark — nice work! 🏁
Now that your inbox is set up, the next step is learning how to manage emails as they roll in each day so you can stay in full control of your inbox 📭
It’s common to mark emails unread, but this often leads to revisiting the same messages again and again. A better approach, and one of the most powerful habits you can build, is clearing your inbox each day. Clear messages you’re done with, and set Reminders for anything you need to follow up on later. This keeps you focused on what matters most and helps you consistently reach Inbox Zero.
Mark Done
Once you’ve finished an email, mark it Done instead of leaving it read in your inbox. This keeps your view clear, and helps you stay focused on messages that still need action.
When you mark a message Done, it’s moved to your Done folder (the archive in Mail). All messages in Done are saved and fully searchable. And if someone replies, the conversation returns to your inbox ↪️
⚡ Try It Now
- From the main inbox, swipe left on a message to mark it Done.
- When viewing a message, tap ✔️ at the bottom of the screen.
- To navigate to the Done folder, tap Inbox or Important at the bottom of the screen, then tap Done.
💡 Tip: To move a message into a folder, tap the message you’d like to move, then pull down from the top of the inbox for Superhuman Command, and type Move.
Remind Me
Instead of keeping follow-up or important messages unread or starred, set a Reminder to bring them back when it’s time to act. That way, the message returns exactly when you need to take action.
When you set a Reminder, the message moves to your Reminders folder. It’ll return to your inbox at the time you choose, so you can follow up right on time!
⚡ Try It Now
- From the main inbox, swipe right on a message to set a Reminder.
- When viewing a message, tap 🕓 at the bottom of the screen to set a Reminder.
- To navigate to the Reminders folder, tap Inbox or Important at the bottom of the screen, then tap Reminders.
💡 Tip: To customize your swipes, pull down then swipe right (like you're making an L) for Superhuman Command. Type Swipe to Right Settings or Swipe to Left Settings.
On iOS, when viewing a message, you can skip it and keep it in your inbox by swiping the triage bar at the bottom of the screen from right to left. On Android, you can do the same by tapping the back button at the bottom of the screen.
And just like that, you're one step closer to a cleaner, calmer inbox 🧹
