Now that you’re familiar with how to navigate the app and Superhuman Command, it’s time to reboot your inbox using Split Inboxes 🔌
A Split Inbox is a focused section that helps you prioritize, follow up, and stay responsive to the emails that matter most.
Let’s first take a look at the default Splits automatically created in your account when you first signed in.
Common Default Splits
Important • Other
The Important Split contains person-to-person and high-priority messages, while the Other Split contains automated messages and emails sent to mailing lists. This setup helps minimize distractions in your inbox and allows you to focus on your essential messages first.
You can easily customize which messages land in Important or Other, so messages go to the right spot.
⚡ Try It Now (optional)
- Tap the message you’d like to move to Important or Other.
- Pull down from the top of the inbox, and type Move to Important or Move to Other.
- If you use Gmail, you can move just this message, all messages from the sender, or all messages from the domain. If you use Outlook, you can move this message or all messages from the sender.
Calendar
The Calendar Split includes any email with a calendar notification, as well as messages from scheduling tools like Calendly. This helps you stay on top of your schedule, and quickly batch process your calendar notifications in one space.
Setting up Splits
You can set up default Splits in the General section of the Split Inbox Library.
⚡ Try It Now
- From the main inbox, pull down then swipe right (like you’re making an L) for Superhuman Command.
- Type Split Inbox Library.
- Navigate to the General section, and tap the Split you would like to add to your inbox.
- Tap Turn On to enable a default Split.
Messages meeting that definition will automatically sort into that Split.
💡 Tip: Looking to build your own Split? Check out those details in the Organize Your Inbox with Superhuman Mail guide.
Navigating Split Inbox
Each Split Inbox shows the total number of messages instead of just the unread count. This is by design, so you can manage your inbox like a to-do list and work toward Inbox Zero. You’ll learn more about this in the next article 😉
To navigate between Splits, tap the Split name at the bottom of the screen.
💡 Tip: The ideal number of Splits is usually between 3 and 7. This keeps you productive without creating too many places to check or process messages.
Editing Split Inbox
