Superhuman Mail users can be on either an individual account or a team account. Below you'll find key definitions and a breakdown of both account types.
Key Terms
- Seat: A Mail account associated with one individual.
-
Subscription: The monthly or annual cost of service associated with a Seat.
- 1 Seat = 1 Subscription
- User: An email address logged in under a Seat. A Seat can have multiple Users as long as the email addresses all belong to or are managed by the same individual.
- Team: A collection of Seats under a consolidated billing account.
- Team User: The User on a Seat that's part of a Team and has access to team features. A Seat can only have one Team User.
- Team Admin: A Team User on a team Seat that has permission to view and manage a team and billing.
- Team Member: A Team User that does not have Admin privileges but is still able to use team features.
Individual Account
Individual accounts are for customers who use and pay for Superhuman Mail themselves.
An individual using Superhuman Mail has a single Seat and can log into multiple email addresses under their Seat as long as they're the one personally using them all. These email addresses are called Users. See Managing Accounts to learn how to add Users.
An individual Seat equates to one Subscription.
Team Account
A team account is a consolidated or contracted billing account for multiple Seats. The number of Seats on a team corresponds to the number of Subscriptions on a team billing account.
A team is made up of multiple Seats. Each Seat can have multiple Users that belong to the individuals associated with each Seat. Only one User on a Seat can be designated a Team User — a Team User has access to team features, whereas the other Users on a Seat do not.
At least one Seat on a team must be set as a Team Admin. Learn more about Admin Controls here.
Team Members do not have Admin Controls.
FAQs
I signed up for Superhuman Mail with my work account. Do I need to pay extra to use Mail with my personal email?
No, Mail subscriptions are per human, not per email address. You can log into as many email addresses as you like as long as they belong to you and you're the one personally using them all.
To do so, just hit Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) → Add Account. That said, we don't typically recommend going over 10 to ensure the most optimal experience!
I use Superhuman Mail and would like my spouse, partner, friend, coworker, etc. to join me. Do I need to pay extra for them?
Yes, Mail subscriptions are per human. If you know someone else who would like to use Mail, they'll need to sign up for Mail on their own or join your team.
You can refer someone to Superhuman Mail by hitting Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → Referral. If they sign up for Mail for the first time using your referral link, you'll both get a month free 💜
To add someone to your team, hit Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → Add to Team to send them an invite. If they accept or if you approve someone's request to join your team, a Seat, thus a Subscription, will be added to your billing account. We do not currently offer an incentive for team additions.
How can I use Team features on all of my accounts?
As of now, only the Team User on a Seat will have access to team features and only one User can be set as the Team User on a Seat.
Can a Seat be part of more than one team?
No, a Seat can only be part of one team.
Can I create sub-teams?
There isn't a way to create sub-teams at the moment. If you would like to use team features with multiple of your email addresses, you'll need to create separate Seats, thus Subscriptions, for each User you'd like to use team features with.
How can I set up a Team Admin for someone who won't be using or paying for Superhuman Mail?
There isn't a way to do this as of now. A Team Admin must be part of a paid Seat.
