Overview
If you're having trouble logging in to Superhuman Mail, you're in the right place. This guide covers the most common login issues — including supported account types, subscription errors, and permission settings — and walks you through how to get back into your account quickly.
Supported Account Types
Superhuman Mail is only able to support Google or Microsoft 365-hosted accounts as of now. We connect to those accounts through Gmail and Microsoft's APIs.
We do not support:
- Exchange accounts — these store emails on private company servers and often lack the reliability and modern APIs needed for Superhuman to work smoothly. Microsoft 365 is Microsoft’s preferred replacement and provides the secure, high-performance access we rely on. While some Exchange setups may partially work, we've seen issues depending on how they're configured behind the scenes.
- Logging in directly with aliases — it is not possible to log into Superhuman Mail with an alias unless it is an actual account you can use to log into Gmail or Outlook.
💡 Tip: If you're not sure who hosts your email, you can use MxToolBox to look up your domain's mail server.
When logging into Superhuman Mail for the first time, you’ll want to check the following:
- You're using the same email address you signed up with.
- Your email is hosted by Google or Microsoft 365.
- You're not using an alias as your primary login.
Missing or Unpaid Subscriptions
If you're unable to log in, the issue may be related to your subscription. Please check whether any of the following are true:
- The email address you’re trying to log in with is the same one you used to sign up for a subscription.
- You previously had a Superhuman Mail subscription under the same email address or alias and the subscription is no longer active.
- You have an existing subscription with a past due invoice.
These issues usually need to be resolved on our end — if any of the above apply, please email us at hello@superhuman.com so we can get things sorted. When you email us, be sure to include:
- The email you're trying to use to log in.
- Any other emails you might have used before (including aliases and former domains).
- A screenshot of the error you’re seeing.
Subscription Has Expired Error
This message usually means your email is linked to a subscription that’s no longer active:
To help us resolve this, quickly send us an email at hello@superhuman.com and include the following:
- The email address you're trying to log in with.
- Any other email addresses used with Superhuman Mail before (including aliases and former domains).
- Any other email addresses you have.
We'll check on our end and get things sorted!
Google and Microsoft Permissions
When signing into Superhuman Mail, you’ll see a screen prompting you to grant Superhuman Mail access to your Gmail or Outlook, calendar, and contacts.
Superhuman Mail requires these permissions to ensure a seamless experience across all your accounts. The app's interface needs access to manage emails, events, and contacts effectively, which is why those permissions are necessary.
Google OAuth
-
Select the correct Google account during login:
- Check Select all to grant all requested permissions:
- Click Continue.
If you skip this step or uncheck permissions, login will not be successful.
👉 In some cases, Google Workspace administrators may block third-party apps like Superhuman Mail from being granted full access, even if you've checked Select all during authentication.
If you're running into friction here, we recommend sharing this guide with your IT team so they can allowlist Superhuman Mail in your organization's admin settings: Google Workspace Allowlisting Instructions
Microsoft OAuth
-
Select your Microsoft 365 account during login:
-
Click Accept to grant all requested permissions in the Microsoft OAuth screen.
If login is unsuccessful, it’s possible that permissions were skipped or, if logging in for the first time, you selected a different Microsoft account than the one used to sign up for Superhuman Mail. In some cases, this may result in a general "Something went wrong" error.
If this happens, close out the tab and try logging in again, making sure to complete all steps in the Microsoft login flow.
👉 If you're part of a Microsoft organization, your admin may need to allowlist Superhuman Mail before you can successfully log in. We recommend sharing the following setup guide with your IT team: Microsoft Admin Guide
Google Advanced Protection (GAP)
By default, Superhuman Mail is not compatible with Google Advanced Protection (GAP). However, we've found that it is possible for Superhuman Mail to coexist with GAP if the account is part of a Google Workspace and the Workspace Admin explicitly allows Superhuman Mail to have access.
You can read more about compatibility and allowing access in our Google Advanced Protection (GAP) article.
