Snippets

Use Snippets to save time and work more efficiently when sending repetitive messages. These reusable templates can be inserted while drafting to speed up your workflow and cut down on typing ⚡

Creating Snippets 

Desktop

You can make Snippets in a few ways: 

  • Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) → Create Snippet to start from scratch. 
    • Private: Only you can view and use this Snippet.
    • Team: Shared with teammates using Superhuman so they can view and use it too.
  • Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → Create snippet from draft to make a Snippet from a message you're drafting.
  • Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → Create snippet from message to make a Snippet from a message you're reading.

Mobile 

For now, Snippets can only be created on Desktop. 

Adding Variables and Placeholders in Snippets

Variables

You can include variables in your Snippets to automatically fill in details, like a person’s first name. All available built-in variables will appear in the right sidebar when creating a Snippet.

Placeholders

You can also add placeholders by putting any phrase in curly brackets. Superhuman Mail will warn you to fill those in before sending your message!

For example, in the screenshot above, {your_company} and {decline_reason} are used as placeholders. If those phrases aren’t replaced when you send the email, Mail will display a warning 👇

Snippet Use Cases

Here are a few examples of Snippets you can create and use: 

  • Greetings 
  • Follow-up messages
  • Cold outreach 
  • Booking links 
  • Common attachments 
  • Internal updates
  • Hiring workflows

Using Snippets

Desktop

  1. Hit Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → Use Snippet (or Cmd+; or Ctrl+;) to open and use a Snippet directly from your inbox. Or, hit to use Snippet Inline. 
  2. Type the Snippet you'd like to use. 
  3. Hit Enter to insert the Snippet into the draft. 

Mobile

  1. To use a Snippet, tap { } when composing a message.

Editing Snippets

  1. Hit Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → go to Snippets or G then ;
  2. Open the Snippet of your choice, then hit Edit in the bottom left corner to make changes.
  3. Hit Cmd+Enter or Ctrl+Enter to save your edits. 

💡 Tip: Toggle on Share with team to share a high-performing Snippet with teammates! 

Snippets Metrics

Quickly see how all your Snippets are performing, and use those insights to understand which messages work best with your audience — then refine your responses for even better results 📈

To view your Snippets Metrics, hit Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → go to Snippets or G then ;

The number of sends, the open and response rates, and the author of the Snippet, will display beside each Snippet.

  • Sends —  the number of times a Snippet has been used in a response.
  • Opened — the number of times a message containing the Snippet has been viewed.
  • Replied —  the total number of responses received for messages that include the Snippet.
  • Author —  the original creator of the Snippet.
