As you learned in our Get Started guide, Split Inbox organizes your email into separate sections that help reduce distractions and increase efficiency. In addition to the many options in our Split Inbox Library, you can tailor your inbox to your needs by creating your own Split Inbox.
You can define a Split Inbox using most search criteria (From:, To:, Subject:, Bcc:, Cc:). And combine multiple criteria using “OR” and “AND”.
You can even define a Split Inbox using Auto Labels to give them the power of Superhuman AI.
⚡ Try It Now
- Hit Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) → Split Inbox Library.
- Click Build Your Own.
- Give your new Split Inbox a name.
- Enter a definition like, “from: my_boss@email.com” or “subject:lead".
- Select a favorite Auto Label.
- Click Create and enjoy the more focused view!
Remember, Splits are meant to promote focus. You should use them for noisy emails you want to cordon off and important emails you want to prioritize. Three to seven tends to be the right number of Split Inboxes to provide structure and prioritization. Too many can be distracting and actually slow you down!
Editing a Split Inbox
You can easily add more emails to existing Splits to support your organizational structures. Just select the email you’d like to add to a Split and hit Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → Add to Split Inbox.
To make more comprehensive edits to your Splits, click Settings → Split Inbox. Then, click ⚙️ beside the Split Inbox name.
💡 Tip: Name your Splits with an emoji to save space and add color! Hit : then type the emoji name 📈
