Keyboard Shortcuts Not Working

Overview

To keep the interface clean and help you go faster, we designed Superhuman Mail with fast and powerful keyboard shortcuts. Our shortcuts are accessible in our Mac and Windows Native apps, as well as the web app in Google Chrome.

That said, if you encounter any issues we have built out a guide on a few things to check!

MacOS

Often if a keyboard shortcut isn’t working, it’s because an existing macOS shortcut already uses the key combination in question. As such, you'll want to check for conflicting shortcuts on your device or other apps.

To do so, hit Cmd+Space → Keyboard Shortcuts.

Take a look through all the sections listed on the left for any macOS shortcuts that could already be using the keyboard shortcut.

Windows OS

If you run into a keyboard shortcut that isn’t working in the Windows app, it’s possible that an existing Windows shortcut already uses the key combination in question. You can see a list of Windows shortcuts here.

Other apps

You’ll also want to double-check whether another app you have downloaded on your device is using the same shortcut — we’ve seen other apps like Loom, 1Password, and Vimium use shortcuts that interfere with Superhuman Mail shortcuts.

Google Chrome

If you’re not able to find a keyboard shortcut on your device or another app that’s interfering with the Superhuman Mail shortcut, an existing shortcut in Google Chrome may be at play.

To check for Chrome shortcuts, you can go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts.

International Keyboard Shortcuts

Superhuman Mail's keyboard shortcuts are optimized for US QWERTY keyboards. If you’re using a different keyboard layout, please refer to our International Keyboard Shortcuts page.
