Overview
Most of the time, emails in Superhuman Mail send instantly, but every now and then, something gets in the way. This article covers what to do when a message fails to send or gets delayed.
Whether you're staring at a red error or just have a hunch something didn’t go out, this guide will help you get back on track.
How to Retry or Discard a Failed Send
If an email fails to send, you'll see a red Send failed notification to the right of the thread in the inbox or in the upper right corner of an open draft that failed to send.
To take action:
- Click the Send failed notification.
- Choose Try Again to resend the message.
- Choose Edit Message to make changes.
-
Or Discard to remove it from your outbox.
Fixing “Email delayed” or “Failed send” Emails
If you see an "Email delayed" or "failed to send" email from the Superhuman Mail team, try the following:
Email Delayed
You may see an “Email delayed” message from the Superhuman Mail team. This means your message is still safely stored, and Superhuman Mail will try to resend the message once you’re reconnected to the internet and reopen the Superhuman Mail app.
In most cases, you can wait a few minutes for the message to send automatically. If the delay persists, it’s best to reach out to our Delight team at hello@superhuman.com.
Typical causes include:
- Temporary internet issues
- Shutting your computer before the send is complete
Failed Send
If an email fails to send, typically you will see a red Send Failed notification to the right of the thread in the inbox or in the upper right corner of an open draft that failed to send.
In some cases, you may receive an email from our Engineering team notifying you that the send failed with the subject “An email failed to send from Superhuman.”
Typical causes include:
- File attachment issues
- Account configuration problems
- Ongoing internet connectivity issues
If you’re unable to retry sending the message or discard it, hit Enter to Reply All on the failed send email from the Superhuman Mail team to get in touch with us. If you reach out, please include whether you give permission to decrypt the draft — we only access message content with your explicit consent.
What To Do If There Is No Failed Send Notification
If you suspect an email didn’t send but don’t see a failure email from the Superhuman Mail team:
- Check your Sent folder and Draft folder to confirm whether the message was sent.
- Check your Sent folder in Gmail or Outlook to see if the email is there.
- Still unsure? Contact the Delight team at hello@superhuman.com.
- Include the subject, the date and time of when the draft failed to send or went missing, and whether you give consent to decrypt the draft. We only access content with your explicit permission.
Bouncebacks and Rejected Emails
Sometimes emails are sent but bounce back due to issues on the recipient’s side. Common reasons include:
- Invalid email address or full inbox.
- Message flagged as spam.
