Moving Conversations Between Important and Other

You can move conversations between the Important and Other Splits to ensure you’re focused on the right emails at the right time.

Moving from Important to Other

Gmail accounts

1. Select the conversation you would like to move, then hit Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) → Move to Other.

   Three options will appear:

   

   • Move conversation to Other will only move that single conversation to Other. This will not affect existing or future messages.
   • Move all conversations from the full email address to Other will move all existing and future conversations from that email address to Other.
   • Move all conversations from the domain to Other will move all existing and future conversations from that domain to Other.
2. Use the Up and Down arrow keys to select your preference, then hit Enter.

Outlook accounts

1. Select the conversation you would like to move, then hit Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → Move to Other.

   Two options will appear:

   

   • Move conversation to Other will only move that single conversation to Other. This will not affect existing or future messages.
   • Move all conversations from the full email address to Other will move all existing and future conversations from that email address to Other.
2. Use the Up and Down arrow keys to select your preference, then hit Enter.

Moving from Other to Important

1. Select the conversation you would like to move, then hit Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → Move to Important.

   • Move conversation to Important will only move that single conversation to Important. This will not affect existing or future messages.
   • Move all conversations from the full email address to Important will move all existing and future conversations from that email address to Important.
   • Move all conversations from the domain to Important will move all existing and future conversations from that domain to Important.

FAQs 

Many messages in Important or Other aren’t being sorted correctly.

If you have a Gmail account, we recommend having smart features enabled in your Gmail settings. When smart features are turned on, that allows Superhuman Mail to sort your emails into Important and Other. 

Here is how you can check that and enable the setting:

The mailing list I'm a part of keeps landing in Other. 

Emails sent to mailing lists go to Other by default. If you have a Gmail account, here’s how to make sure they land in Important moving forward:

1. Hit Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → open Filter Settings.
2. Click Create a new filter.
3. In the Has the words field, enter list:{abc@xyz.com}.
4. Click Create filter.
5. Check the box for Categorize as and select Primary.
6. Check the box for Also apply filter to matching conversations.
7. Click Create filter.

This will make all emails sent to this mailing list go to your Important Split, no matter who sent it.
