Note: The option to update the phone number is unavailable to free users and users on a free trial. If you’re a free user, we recommend switching to a third-party authenticator app.

To update the phone number used for two-step verification, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Grammarly account and click Settings in the left-side panel.
  2. In the Security section, select Two-Step Verification.
  3. Click Edit Settings. You may be asked to verify your account again by entering your password and the verification code sent to your previous phone number.
  4. Click Modify next to Text Message (Default).
  5. In the pop-up window, click Change Number and enter a valid phone number that can receive text messages. Then click Send Code.
  6. Enter the verification code you received via text message.
  7. Click Turn On to confirm the change.

If you haven’t received a text message with a verification code, try requesting it again and contact your mobile carrier if the issue persists.

If you’ve lost access to your phone number, see this article: I’ve lost access to my phone and can’t log in
