Explore folders in your Superhuman Docs workspace, add shortcuts to the most relevant folders, and learn about the My Docs folder.
Every doc in Superhuman Docs lives within a folder. Folders allow you to organize the docs in your workspace (think departments, teams, and projects). Not only can folders be used to group docs by topic areas, but they can also be used as a way to control access to docs. Additionally, they can help you easily find the docs you need.
In this article, we’ll cover how to browse and navigate folders as a workspace member. If you instead want to learn about creating or sharing folders, hop on over to this other article.
Browse folders in your workspace
To browse all the folders you have access to within your workspace, navigate to your workspace home, and find your workspace name in the left-hand panel. Below the workspace name, you should see a Folders section - click this to open the entire catalog of folders that you have access to. You can click the search icon in the upper-right to open a search bar and quickly locate a specific folder.

Add folder shortcuts
If you want to easily and frequently access a folder, we recommend adding a shortcut to the folder.
While viewing all folders, just click on the star button next to the folder’s name. Starred folders will appear in the left panel of your workspace (under the Starred folders header). They will also show under Folder shortcuts when browsing folders. Your shortcuts only apply to you and are only visible to you.
Bonus: Any folder you create will be automatically added to your shortcuts.
The My Docs folder
In the left panel of your Superhuman Docs homepage, you will see a My Docs folder listed within the Starred folders section of each workspace. This is your personal space where you can create and interact with your own private docs. Only you have access to this folder, and it cannot be shared or deleted. It also cannot be removed from your Starred folders.
Any doc you create in your My Docs folder is private by default. You can choose to share each of the docs in your My Docs folder with other people via the doc's Share dialog. Or you can move docs from this folder to other folders, depending on who should have access to the doc.
FAQs
How do I remove a folder shortcut?
To remove a folder shortcut, simply locate the folder in the left-hand panel of your Superhuman Docs homepage (under the Starred folders heading), hover over the folder name, and click the star icon that appears.
If I get removed from a workspace, what happens to the docs in the My Docs folder?
If you are removed from a workspace, the private docs in your My Docs folder will become read-only. If you previously shared any of those docs with other workspace members, they will still be able to access them in the read-only format.
If you did not share the docs in your My Docs folder with anyone else, nobody in the workspace will be able to access them.
If you are re-invited to the workspace, then your docs in My Docs will look the same as they did before you left.
If you are officially offboarded from an Enterprise workspace, the private docs in your My Docs folder will be deleted permanently, even if you are re-invited to the workspace in the future.
How do folder permissions work?
Like docs, folders can be shared. When a folder is shared with you, you gain access to all the docs within that folder.
For those on our Team/Business or Enterprise plans, folders can be shared at four different permission levels: can view, can comment, can edit, and can manage.
