Sign in and out of Superhuman Docs

Learn about the various sign-in options for your Superhuman Docs account, and get answers to common questions.

In order to view most docs - and in order to edit any docs - you'll need to be logged into a Superhuman Docs (formerly, "Coda") account. This article will walk you through the options for logging into that account. Plus you'll find lots of great FAQs.

Note that if you're in an Enterprise workspace, your org admin will be able to limit sign-in options. Therefore, you may not see all of the sign-in options discussed in this article. To learn more about org admin controls for sign-in, check out this article.

Sign in to Superhuman Docs

You can proactively log in to Superhuman Docs by going to docs.superhuman.com and signing in via your chosen method.

Alternatively, you may be logged out and trying to access a doc. In that case, following the link to the doc will lead you first to a sign-in prompt.

Depending on your team's settings, you'll be able to log in with any of the following methods:

  • Email and password: the standard sign-in option, using your email address and password
  • Google account: select the Google option then choose your Google account
  • Microsoft account: use the Microsoft option then choose your Microsoft account
  • Apple account: select the Apple option then use your Apple ID and password (see FAQs below for more info)
  • Your company's SSO provider: this is only available if you're in an Enterprise workspace; learn more here
    • Organizations that use Google Workspace to manage identities can use the Google option above, regardless of their Docs subscription plan.

Once you're signed in, you'll land on your Docs homepage. You'll see all the docs you have access to listed here, and all the workspaces you are a member of will be listed on the left-hand menu.

Starting July 2026, you may notice that you are directed to id.superhuman.com when signing in to Superhuman Docs. This is expected, as we are now using a unified identity service for the Superhuman platform.

Sign out of Superhuman Docs

To sign out of Superhuman Docs, click your name and profile picture in the lower-left corner of your workspace home or any doc, then select Sign out from the menu. Note that if you don't see your name in the corner due to the page list being hidden, you just need to hover over the left edge of the doc to reveal.

FAQs

Why am I being directed to id.superhuman.com when signing in to Superhuman Docs?

Starting July 2026, you may notice that you are directed to id.superhuman.com when signing in to Superhuman Docs. This is expected behavior, since we are now using a unified identity verification platform for the entire Superhuman suite.

Can I merge two accounts together?

No. If you set up a new account with a new email and password, you will have to join the workspace as another member and explicitly share docs between your old account and your new account on a doc-by-doc or folder-by-folder basis. For more on how to transfer doc ownership, check out this article.

Can Enterprise admins control which sign-in options are allowed for their org?
Can I set up two-factor authentication (2FA) for my Superhuman Docs account?

Yes — if your workspace allows for email/password login, then you can optionally enroll in 2FA for added security. Read all about it here.

Where can I learn more about Superhuman Docs and account security?

To learn more about our product, application, and infrastructure security, visit our security page.

What if I use my Google account or Apple account to log in but want to switch to email/password?

Note: the following only applies if your Google Login is associated with a company-managed Google Workspace. If this does not apply to you, you can skip to the second paragraph.

If you already use Google Login, but would like to create a new account that utilizes email and password login using a different email address, you should make sure your company's IT policy and Superhuman Docs administrator allow non-Google login; this may require disconnecting your workspace from Google Drive if it is currently connected. Let us know by contacting Superhuman Docs Support, and we can help you make this transition.

Once you are cleared per the above, you can set up email and password login for a new email address by following these steps. Head on over to your Account settings page by clicking your picture/avatar in the top-right corner, then the three vertical dots. Once there, you'll see a new Security Settings section where you can add a password that will initiate a verification email to the email you have on file.

After confirming, you'll be able to log in with that email and password, bypassing any Google or Apple account authentication.

Can I sign in with my Apple account?

Yes, just follow the Apple login prompts. Note that you'll have the option to either use your real email address, or to hide your real email and instead use a generated private address. If you choose to hide it, a private email address will be generated for you. This may make collaboration and other scenarios more difficult, so be sure to understand these before approving.

To learn more about the "Sign in with Apple" and "Hide My Email" features, check out their support article.

Important note: More vendors are introducing features that allow you to hide your original email address when creating new accounts. Just note that the challenges this poses to collaboration and sharing will also likely apply to these other services.

I'm getting an error message when trying to sign in with Apple with a hidden email address. What's going on?

If you're encountering an error when trying to use Apple's "Hide My Email" feature, this is likely because you've already signed in to Superhuman Docs using other authentication providers. Signing in with private email addresses from Apple ID is not supported for existing users using multiple authentication providers. You can instead choose the "Share My Email" option, or you can contact Superhuman Docs support for further assistance.

How can I share my real Apple ID address after I've hidden it?

If you're using the "Sign in with Apple" option and have already chosen to hide your email address but now want to undo that, check out this article from Apple Support.
