Delete your Superhuman Docs account

Learn how to delete your individual Superhuman Docs account, including what requirements must be met first.

Your Superhuman Docs account is the individual account that you use to access Superhuman Docs. If you no longer need access to Docs going forward, you may decide to permanently delete your account. This article explains how to request deletion and what requirements will need to be met once self-serve deletion is restored.

⚠️ Starting in July 2026, Coda is now Superhuman Docs. As we continue to become a unified part of the Superhuman suite, we have merged our identity platforms. This means that self-serve account deletion has been temporarily paused for all Superhuman Docs users - including Free, Pro, Team, and bundled accounts. Regardless of your plan, please contact care@superhuman.com to request account deletion.

Understand the terminology

Before deleting your Superhuman Docs account, it may be helpful to review some relevant terminology:

  • Superhuman Docs account: This is your individual account that you use to sign in and access Superhuman Docs. Each account can belong to multiple workspaces. You must have a Superhuman Docs account in order to access a workspace, edit docs, etc.
    • Delete account: Deleting your Superhuman Docs account is permanent. This action will delete all data associated with your account, including any docs that you own. You will no longer be able to sign into Superhuman Docs via this account.
  • Workspace: A workspace is the home for Superhuman docs and members. Each workspace is on a specific plan (Free, Pro, Team, or Enterprise), and will have slightly different features accordingly. Billing and payment happen at the workspace level.
    • Delete workspace: Deleting a workspace will fully and permanently delete the workspace for all members. A workspace must be empty of all docs before it can be deleted. If the workspace is on a paid plan, it must also be downgraded before it can be deleted. Deleting your workspace does not result in your account being deleted. Learn more about deleting workspaces here.
    • Downgrade workspace: Downgrading is the act of going from a higher-cost plan to a lower-cost (or no-cost) plan. Downgrading does not delete a workspace nor does it delete your account, so the workspace and its docs will still be accessible by the members. Check out this article to learn about downgrading workspaces.

Before deleting your account

Once self-serve account deletion is restored, you'll need to make sure none of the following scenarios apply to you before proceeding. If a scenario does apply to you, refer to the corresponding solution.

Scenario Error message Solution
You are the only workspace admin in a paid workspace
"Retry after adding a second administrator or delete the following workspaces where you are the only administrator"
If you encounter this issue, you have two options:
  1. Add another workspace admin to the paid workspace(s). This typically involves changing the role of an existing workspace member to Doc Maker (admin). Learn more here.
  2. Downgrade your paid workspace to the Free plan.
Once you’ve completed one of the above actions, you should be able to delete your account using the steps in the section below.
Your account is governed by an Enterprise org "We are unable to purge your account as it is governed by an organization. Please contact your org admin for more information"
Reach out to one of your Superhuman Docs org admins for assistance. If you're unsure who your org admins are, we suggest asking your company's IT team. And when in doubt, feel free to reach out to Support.

Delete your account

As of July 2026, self-serve account deletion has been temporarily paused for all Superhuman Docs users. Since Coda is now Superhuman Docs, we have made changes to our identity and account management systems that affect all users regardless of plan or bundle status. In the meantime, please contact care@superhuman.com to request account deletion. We hope to reintroduce self-serve account deletion in the near future.

FAQs

How can I delete someone else's account?

If you're on the Team, Pro, or Free plan, it isn't currently possible to delete someone else's account. Workspace admins can remove members from a workspace, but this does not delete that member's account.

If you're an org admin on our Enterprise plan, you do have the ability to deactivate user accounts. Check out this article to learn more.

Is deleting my account permanent?

Yes, account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once your account is deleted, any docs you own and all of your data in Superhuman Docs will be permanently deleted.

Can Superhuman Docs delete my account for me?

Superhuman Docs is fully GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) compliant, which means we take data deletion seriously. While self-serve deletion is temporarily paused, you can request account deletion by contacting care@superhuman.com and our team will assist you.

What happens to my docs and data when I delete my account?

When you delete your account, we delete all of your account data including any docs you own. Anyone else who was previously using these docs will no longer have access. If you would like others to maintain access to those docs, be sure to transfer doc ownership before you delete your account.

When I try to delete my account, I see an error saying "We are unable to purge your account as it is governed by an organization." What do I do?

You will see this message if your account is part of a managed organization. In this case, you should reach out to your org admin and ask them to deactivate your account.

What happens to a workspace when I delete my account?

If there are other members in the workspace, the workspace will continue to exist as normal. Only the docs that you owned will be deleted. All other workspace docs will continue to be accessible by the other workspace members.

If you were the only member in the workspace, the workspace will continue to exist but will have no members and zero docs.
