Ask AI is your intelligent assistant across email, calendar, and the web. Find, write, schedule, or ask anything. No need to remember senders, guess keywords, or scan subject lines.
Desktop
1. You must first be on the Business or Enterprise plan.
2. Hit Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) → Ask AI or ?
3. You can also hit Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → Search or / to start a search.
Afterward, you can do any of the following:
- Search your inbox quickly without needing to remember senders, keywords, or subject lines.
- Combine information from your inbox, calendar, and the web.
- Reference a 90-day chat history.
- Draft emails and events, or edit them in your voice and tone.
- Find answers to product questions like "How do I create a Split Inbox?"
- Analyze your calendar to show how you spend your time.
- Check availability and propose meeting times.
- Create calendar events from scratch.
Ask AI can search emails from up to 5 years ago, starting when you turn it on.
💡 Tip: Ask AI opens automatically when Write with AI needs more information or is handling a non-drafting task to ensure everything stays clear.
Mobile
Tap the ai icon in the top left corner of the screen.
Similar to Desktop, you can do any of the following:
- Search your inbox or the web.
- Create or edit emails.
- Ask product usage questions.
- Analyze your emails and schedule.
- Create calendar events from scratch.
- Reference your chat history up to 90 days (iOS only).

FAQs
I turned on Ask AI, but it still says “We’ll let you know when it’s ready.”
When you turn on Ask AI, Superhuman starts indexing 5 years of emails — this can take up to a couple of days, depending on the size of your inbox. If it’s been longer than that and Ask AI still isn’t ready, try resetting Superhuman AI by hitting Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → Deactivate Superhuman AI then Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → Reactivate Superhuman AI.

I'm on the Business Plan. Can I opt out of Ask AI and still use other Superhuman AI features?
Our Superhuman AI features are designed to work together. There isn't a way to pick and choose which ones are enabled and which ones aren't.
Will my emails be stored?
With Ask AI enabled, Mail stores your emails through a trusted SOC 2-compliant third-party vendor. Your data is encrypted both in transit and at rest.
We have a Zero Day Data Retention agreement, so your data will not be saved or retained by LLM providers.
Will the queries I send and responses I receive back be stored?
We do not store queries for Write with AI, Instant Reply, or Auto Summarize.
We store Instant Reply and Auto Summarize responses for 90 days to show them again when reopening emails.
Ask AI queries and responses are stored to help us improve quality and debug issues.
We do not store or access your calendar content or attachments (beyond their names) unless you provide explicit feedback.
We do not read responses or your email content unless you explicitly give us consent while submitting feedback.
Will anyone train on my data?
Neither Mail nor any vendor trains on your data.
Can I request to have my data deleted?
Yes. If you would like your data deleted, please reach out to hello@superhuman.com.
