Contact Pane

TL;DR

Quickly know who you’re emailing with Superhuman Mail’s Contact Pane — it shows names, roles, locations, social links, recent emails, and more.

  • Desktop: Appears on the right sidebar when messaging or hovering over an email address.
  • Mobile: Tap above the Subject in an open message.
  • Edit your info via Edit Profile or superhuman.com/products/mail/profile
  • Data come from Clearbit, LinkedIn, AngelList, and Gravatar.
  • You cannot edit others’ profiles (yet).

To help you be brilliant when working with others, Mail shows you information about who you’re emailing in the right sidebar.

FAQs

Where does the information in the Contact Pane come from?

The information in the Contact Pane is separated into two categories: “human” or “company.” This is determined from the email address itself.

For “human” email addresses, Mail pulls together data from the following:

  • Clearbit (Clearbit returns publicly available social information about an email address such as a person’s LinkedIn profile, job title, and industry).
  • LinkedIn
  • AngelList
  • Profile images can come from any of the above profiles or from the first avatar found on Gravatar.

For “company” email addresses, Mail doesn’t provide data in the Contact Pane.

I’m seeing inaccurate information in someone else’s Contact Pane.

There isn’t a way to edit the Contact Pane for someone else’s email address just yet. If you notice incorrect information being pulled in for anyone you know, please reach out to hello@superhuman.com with the necessary corrections.

What does the Refer button do?

The Refer button will appear in the Contact Pane when a person isn’t using Mail yet, and they have a Google or Microsoft-hosted account. You can click this button to send them a referral, and if they use it to sign up, you’ll both get a month free 🎁

What does the Invite to Team button do?

An Invite to Team button will appear when the person is on the same domain as you. You can click this button to add them to your billing account. If they’re not on Mail yet, we’ll help them get onboard!

What else can I do from the Contact Pane?

Beyond giving you context about people, the Contact Pane lets you do several other things:

  • Click a person’s name to search for other emails from them.
  • Click a person’s email address to draft a new email to them.
  • Mouse over a person’s name and click the copy button to the right.
  • Mouse over a person’s email address and click the copy button to the right.
  • If a person’s bio line includes an @mention, click it to open the corresponding page on Twitter or AngelList.
  • Hit 0 to cycle between the sidebar, daily calendar view, and weekly calendar view.
