A Split is a division of your inbox, capturing specific conversations. These smaller, intentional sections allow you to quickly prioritize different emails with greater focus.
Navigating Splits
Split names appear at the top of your inbox alongside the total number of emails (read and unread) in that Split. To navigate between them on desktop, hit Tab to move right and Shift+Tab to move left. On mobile, simply tap the Split name.
Common Splits
Important • Other
The Important Split contains person-to-person and high priority messages, while the Other Split contains automated messages and emails sent to mailing lists. This setup helps minimize distractions in your inbox, and allows you to focus on your essential messages first.
You can easily customize which messages land in Important or Other by hitting Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) → Move to Important or Cmd+K or Ctrl+K→ Move to Other.

Calendar
The Calendar Split contains all emails that have an .ics file or that come from a scheduling product such as Calendly. This helps you stay on top of your schedule, and allows you to quickly batch process your calendar invitations and updates in one organized space.
Other Default Splits:
- VIP — Includes all emails from individuals you've marked as VIP, so you can be ultra-responsive. To ensure you never miss a message from a VIP, their emails will also appear in the Important Split. To disable duplicates from Important, hit Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → Split Inbox Settings. To add or remove VIP senders, hit Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → VIP Split Senders.
- Team — Captures emails from your domain, helping you stay engaged as a manager or teammate. You can choose whether these emails should also appear in the Important Split.
- Shared – Includes all conversations shared using Cmd+K or Ctrl+K → Share Conversation or Comment, making team collaboration more efficient.
